Basil is an easy, tasty and quick growing herb perfect for all level of gardener to have a go at!
Basil harvests can be used fresh or made into sauces/pesto and frozen to be stored for later use.
For a prolonged harvest of basil, pinch off leaves right at the stem so your plant will produce more branches and leaves. Pinch off flowers as they form too.
Sowing: Sow your seeds directly to the garden or buy seedlings ready to grow at your local garden centre. Basil will grow well in gardens and in pots.
Sunlight: Basil loves a sunny spot, but will survive in a partly shaded home too
Watering: Water at the base of the plant rather than over the leaves. Moist soil is ideal for basil and make the most of every drop by ensuring there is a good layer of Sugar Cane Mulch around your basil plant.
Varieties: Genovese, Dark Opal, Blue Spice, Bush, Lemon, Thai, Sweet, Red Italian
