Plant Profile: Grevillea

The spider-like flowers of grevillea come in a range of beautiful colours, including reds, oranges, yellows, cream and pink.

These native beauties can range from ground covers, small to medium sized shrubs and large trees, so are very versatile. They are also great for attracting bees and birdlife to your garden

Profile-GrevilleaSunlight: Grevilleas are sun-lovers so plant in a position with full sun. They will survive in a partly shady spot but your plant will become leggy and won't develop as many flowers.

Watering: Water well after planting, but once they are established they need little water.

Soil: Prepare soil for planting by adding Native Mix to your existing soil before planting. This is a premium low-phosphorus soil ideal for your new native plant.

Mulching: Tea Tree Mulch makes an ideal mulch for around native plants, like grevillea.

Pruning: Grevillea are long flowering, which can make it a challenge to pick when is the best time to prune. Left unpruned they can however, become leggy. Watch out for a downturn or lull in flowering and then give them just a light haircut. Any flowers you happen to trim can be put in a vase and enjoyed in the house.
