Plant Profile: Mint

Mint is one of the most versatile herbs in the garden. It can be used it both sweet and savoury culinary dishes (and cocktails too!).

Profile-MintIt’s ideal to keep mint growing in a pot, rather than sowing in the garden, as it’s a very ‘friendly’ herb and tends to spread around quite widely… unless you want oodles and oodles of mint everywhere.

Sowing:
Sow Mint directly into a pot filled with Tomato & Herb Potting Mix with a shallow layer of Seed & Cutting Mix on top. This gives your seeds a gentle start, where they can then grow through to the main potting mix, without the need for transplanting.

Sunlight:
Part shade is ideal for mint so the leaves don’t burn.

Watering:
Mint loves regular watering, but well drained soil. Keep it moist, but not wet.

Varieties:
Korean Mint, Peppermint, Spearmint, Applemint, and Catmint.
